Ellen DeGeneres and her beautiful wife, Australian actress, Portia de Rossi love animals.
If you’re a fan of TV you’ll know Ellen from her hit show, and you’ll know her love of animals and her fierce belief in animal rights and people who do things to help our friends of the animal world. Ellen is also owner of Halo pet food, a company devoted to making human quality food without fillers, meal or any of that nasty stuff, just food that makes your pet be healthy and glow.
And Portia is right there behind her.
The couple own two dogs, three cats and two horses. Mabel is a poodle (an ex-show dog who got too old for it and wasn’t needed anymore so found a great home with Ellen and Portia), Wolf is, in Ellen’s words ‘a kind of poodle-maltese mix’ and he’s a street rescue. There three cats, Charlie, Chairman and George are all rescues, too. Jones the gelding was a gift from Ellen to Portia, and Puff the quarter horse a gift from Portia to Ellen.
Of course, they don’t all live together in their Hollywood mansion (although with some of those places, maybe they do!), especially since Ellen and Portia recently took a step closer to their dream; owning and living on a horse ranch.
For a mere $10 million (hmm, I wonder if these places do lay-away?) the couple bought themselves the luxurious ranch nestled in Westlake Village in California. This 25 acre ranch with luxury stables and a gorgeous house and grounds is really their dream come true.
One day they would love to get away from the high-pressure, frantic life of Hollywood stardom and retire to the simple life on their ranch. Where no doubt this fab animal loving couple will fill it with animals of all shapes, species and sizes, who come from all walks of life…
And something tells us a very high percentage of those animals will be the ones most needing a home.
