Remember Macavity? He was the English cat who made headlines a couple of years back when he began to regularly take the bus…to a local fish and chip shop (hey, cats have always been wiley and smart…why walk to partake in some tasty mosels when you can be driven there?), and then caught the bus back.

And for years, people have reported sightings of pigeons regularly taking the London tube – often the same one, going to its favourite stops. They wait patiently for the tran to stop, then get off at their stop.

Well, the dogs of Moscow refuse to be left out.

Just like you and me, these dogs (they’re strays) have to make a living. So they board the ttrains each day and head into the city looking for food from kindly strangers (or wherever the can get it…like barking suddenly to get people to drop their food).

The dogs even work together to make sure they get off at the right stop And in the evenings? They take the train back out to the burs, for a well-earned night’s sleep…

So here’s the adorable video of a baby bunny eating a flower, the washing his face.

10) Catalburun – From Turkey, this dog has a split nose (genetically, not from a fight!) and is a fantastic hunter.

9) Mundi – He looks like he just returned from getting a perm at the hairdressers, this dog is Hungarian, super smart and a great hunter.

8 ) Thai Ridgeback – This Asian dog (we’re taking a wild guess and saying…Thailand…) has only been living abroad in America since 1994! Apart from a really cool pet, he is also a wonderful guardian dog.

7)Norwegian Lundehund – He used to live and hunt with the vikings (it’s unknown whether he pillaged or went beserker), which is awesome, but this cute dog used to also be an expert puffin hunter. Now, he enjoys being pampered by people.

6) Carolina Dog – As the name suggests, he is indeed from the American South. But this dog is also known as the ‘American Dingo’ since he’s been genetically linked to primitive breeds like the Australian Dingo.

5) Tibetan Mastiff – A descendant of the ancient Mastiff breeds, this dog lives in the Himalayas. He used to be a fierce guard dog in the high peaks of the mountains, but these days he prefers to enjoy the good life as a family dog.

4) Azawakh – A native of Africa (we’re not sure if he’s from the deepest, darkest part), its rare to find him roaming about in other countries. He looks like a giant Greyhound, and loves a bit of gazelle (not Giselle) hunting.

3) Otterhound – His heritage hails from the 1100s. He was a hunting dog that lost his job in England in the ’70s, when hunting was banned. He is enjoying retirement as a family dog, and enjoys long walks and naps in front of the fireplace.

2) Stabyhoun – Hailing from the Netherlands, he’s a pointer and a retriever and is used as a gun dog. He’s also classed as a national treasure in the Netherlands. And, he’s completely cute, to boot!

1) Chinook – No, we’re not talking about the flying machine of the same name. This noble animal has a fine history of working the wintry landscapes as a sled dog. Now they’re mostly enjoying a hard earned retirement, and hanging about human homes in the guise as beloved pets…

There are plenty more rare dogs. If you know of one you think deserves to be on this list, let us know and we’ll write him up!

When he hears her meow, he knows it’s time to fetch the basket to bring kitty back up for a bit of a nap or a snack. It’s pretty much the life all cats know is their right.

Now, where is my personalised elevator?

It’s officially spring, but there’s still snow and slush and mud on the ground.

When it’s doggy walking time, this can certainly make a mess of both your dog – and your house. If you’ve got the kind of pup that likes a good roll around on the ground, no matter what the conditions, you’re going to end up with one dirty dog.

While bathing every day might seem like a dream-solution in times like this, it ain’t gonna happen. A better solution is more regular baths and daily wipe downs with doggy wipes.

Doggy wipes have the advantage of being quick and easy and they keep your pooch clean between baths. And they also help moisturise paws and skin.

Winter has reared its head once more with a snow storm here in New York. If we’re getting snow, we know other parts of the country are also suffering from last minute winter woes.

With heavy snow it’s a good idea to keep outdoor pets indoors – no one wants their pet disappearing in a pile of snow.

Walks? When the snow is thick on the ground and steadily piling up, even the most snow-loving dog isn’t going to do well. So use your noggin (that’s your head) and get some puppy pads or the special fake grass called PottyPatch for your dog to use as an alternative to outdoors.

Exercise woes for your pet are no fun, but be creative. If you live in an apartment building, why not strap on the leash and take your dog for a walk through the halls, or even better up and down a few flights of stairs (we suggest doing this after he’s gone to the bathroom, just in case). Playing games with your dog in the house or apartment work, too.

And in cold weather, cats love to sleep on top of motors, under the hood of cars, so please, before you drive off into the day (or the night as the case may be), we suggest checking under the hood for any sleeping kitties.

So keep warm, keep your pets warm and dry and if you live in a warm state, can we come visit?

I’m sure those of us living in the colder states are ready to breathe a sigh of relief.

But with any change of season comes changes in humidity and as most of us know, it results in dry or itchy skin as our body adjusts. While we will change our moisturisers to deal with the new season, we need to think about our dogs.

Dogs are also susceptible to the skin irritations that come with season change.

But there is something you can do to help out your pooch. Dog nutritional and vitamin supplements not only help the general health of your pet, but they also help give him a shiny coat and moisturised skin.

Try some that contain borage oil or salmon oil.

Dog shampoo, specifically designed for pooches, will not only make your dog feel like a luxurious creature, but will help his coat and skin remain itch-free and supple during the change in weather (and all year round!), which is what we want.

So do your dog a favour, and check out some great products here!

The annual barkfest, a brunch for people and their dogs, was held at the Bonham International Auction house in New York City on Sunday morning and it was most definitely a barking success.

Admission wasn’t ‘cheap’ ($50 booking by phone, and $60 at the door), but it was completely worth it. Not only for the amazing art filling the space, but for the complimentary champagne, delicious brunch snacks, and of course, snacks for the dogs who came along to be adored (and fed).

But what also made the admission way more than worth is is the fact that all proceeds went to the AKC Humane fund for dogs. And anything that helps out our animal friends is very worthwhile indeed.

The place hummed with people and dogs and gushings about the art on display.

Both Bonhams and the American Kennel Club can be more than proud of this fantastic event.

We’ll see you there next year, and don’t forget to check in on the auction tomorrow at 10am at Bonhams.
