We all know how winter dries out our skin.
Women, especially understand the importance of using moisturisers formulated specifically for the dryness winter seems to bring out in our skin.
Cold, harsh winds, moisture-sucking heating systems and changes in humidity all play havoc on our skin. It’s no wonder at the very least we all need a good chap-stick to stop lips drying and cracking (and looking just plain horrible).
We take care of our skin during these times, but what about our dogs? Especially those with sensitive skin?
As a responsible, loving pet owner you obviously have your own grooming routine in place to keep your pup in tip-top, show-worthy condition.
Regular brushing helps remove excess fur (that otherwise annoyingly sticks to our clothes and bags), and more importantly help stimulate the skin and distribute natural oils essential for keeping doggy skin and fur moisturised.
And we know that using special shampoo and conditioners uniquely formulated for dogs helps pooches gain that extra special gleam and also brings comfort and relief to dogs with sensitive skin.
But with the winter months suddenly upon us, even the most vigilant dog-owner may need a little help in their dog-grooming routines to help with that dry, itchy winter skin so many dogs suffer from. Luckily, there’s a really easy way to help your dog. And no, we don’t mean by slathering expensive moisturisers on your pet.
Like our skin with its seasonally changing moisturiser needs, your pet’s needs also change seasonally.
But shampoos and conditioners formulated for dogs are also not all equal. Some are made for different needs and like you and me, there are products available for all those needs. Your dog may need different shampoo and conditioning treatments for different climates and seasons.
Products containing ingredients like shea butter, honey, coconut oil, or virgin olive oil all help to moisturing delicate dog skin and keep your dog shiny, happy and dry-itch free. And products with oatmeal are well-known to soothe irritated skin, a must in dry, winter months (and also a must for super-sensitive dogs all year around).
While there are many products out there, not all are made equal.
We recommend finding ones with organic, high quality, luxury ingredients. Ingredients that have been handpicked and painstakingly selected to create a product that not only looks and smells good but is an amazing help for your pet and his skin and coat. Click here for a list of fabulous products.
