Adopt-A-Dog…Meet Billie Jean

BillieJean_1104A

Adding a bundle of fur in the form of a cat or dog (or possibly both) is  one of the most rewarding things  you can do (well, short of  curing cancer or  birthing babies, but you know what we mean…).

Animals are not only adorable but they will love you unconditionally, and all for a bit of affection, food and a warm place to sleep. It’s pretty much the best deal you can think of when it comes to being loved.

If you’re thinking of getting a pet, then check in with us each week as we present the pets of the week (a dog and a cat) that are up for adoption from shelters, like our favourite, North Shore Animal League.

This little cutie-pie is Billie Jean. She’s a female mix who has the biggest, most soulful eyes ever and the kind of face that practically shouts love.

If you’d like to adopt her, or another animal, check out North Shore Animal League today, especially if you’re in the tri-state area.

Be A Pet Foster Parent!

can i come stay with you?

No kill animal shelters like North Shore Animal League are, not surprisingly, full of animals.

The thing is, some of these animals are too old or disabled or have the kind of special needs that makes them ‘unadoptable’. And yet, doesn’t the idea of these bundles of fur, purrs and love-ready-to-go living their lives in the confines of the shelter break your heart?

Places like North Shore are veritable havens for abandoned and otherwise condemned animals. They give these babies a life and a place to live. They make sure the animals are well-cared for and loved and yet….as even they say, it is no subsitute for a real home, something all the animals deserve.

And that’s where becoming a pet foster parent comes in.

It’s a perfect solution for someone who wants a pet but doesn’t have the extended time in their lives to commit for the next 15 to 20 years (perhaps you move around too much because of your job…), just as it’s perfect for someone who wants to simply help out.

The pets looking for a foster home are wide and varied. Basically they are animals who aren’t quite ready for adoption but would love a warm, sweet home to rest in for a while. They are very young and very old, some have special needs, others are recovering from birthing babies and surgery…they are animals looking for love.

The great thing about fostering a pet is medical treatment is covered for the animal as well as food, bowls, litter and the like.

If you want a pet but are not sure about a life-time commitment, or simply want to help make one of our four-legged friend’s lives better it’s easy to become a foster parent.

You’ll be so glad you did.

Something To Be Thankful For

prisoner? You fools, I can escape from anything!

With the onset of thanksgiving, people are rushing about collecting all the things they need for the holiday.

And many of us are donating food and money to help out those in need, an important part of the season, because no one wants to sit down and eat until they can’t do up their pants (it happens!) knowing there are others going without.

But it’s also a time when we need to think about our less-fortunate animal friends.

Prince Lorenzo Borghese, creator of Royal Pet Club believes in this wholeheartedly. His two favourite charities, North Shore Animal League and American Humane, are a big part of his life, and for good reason. They help animals in need.

You can, too.

Join Royal Pet Club and order some free samples. With each free sample shipped, a dollar is donated to American Humane. With each order processed, a dollar is donated to North Shore Animal League, America’s biggest no-kill shelter.

All our animal friends deserve the kind of loving home your provide your furry babies, and in these hard times, every little bit helps.

So join Royal Pet Club, or make a donation yourself this season (big or small, all is good) and have something to be truly thankful for this year.

Don’t Forget November 5th!

look at me...I'm a princess!
